Vumbura Plains comprises of two satellite safari camps in the world-renowned Okavango Delta, Botswana. Surrounded by land and water all year round, Vumbura Plains offers guests the opportunity of experiencing the best of both worlds with a selection of land and water-based activities on offer.
This diverse region of the Okavango Delta has proven to be a prime game viewing area with its wide range of herbivore and predator species residing in the reserve. It's believed that this region of the Okavango Delta has the best antelope diversity with frequent sightings of sable.
Vumbura Plains South Camp boasts one double bedded tent and six twin bedded tents that can be converted into double rooms. Each tent is elevated off the ground and features a spacious bedroom, en-suite bathroom with indoor and outdoor showers, a sunken lounge area with views of the floodplains from three sides, a private plunge pool and a sala area that overlooks the African bushveld.
Vumburu Plains North Camp boasts one double bedded tent, two family tents, and four twin-bedded tents that can be converted into double rooms. Each tent is elevated off the ground and features a spacious bedroom, en-suite bathroom with indoor and outdoor showers, a sunken lounge area with views of the floodplains from three sides, a private plunge pool and a sala area that overlooks the African bushveld.
The family tents can accommodate up to 4 guests and feature two bedrooms, separate en-suite bathrooms with the main bedroom boasting large showers, a sunken lounge leading from the main bedroom, and all the other features of the standard tents.
Each camp features a large lounge, dining and bar area, and an expansive viewing deck complete with comfortable couches and a fire pit.
Activities offered at the camp include morning and afternoon game drives that are conducted in open 4x4 safari vehicles, night game drives, mokoro (dugout canoe) excursions, boating safaris, guided nature walks, catch-and-release fishing, bird watching, and hot air balloon safaris (April to mid-October).
With the arrival of the annual floods, the plains surrounding Vumbura become flooded and attract an abundance of wildlife, offering incredible sightings of elephant, giraffe, buffalo, wildebeest and a number of antelope species. The flooded grasslands form a number of waterways which are inhabited by a number of hippo and crocodiles. Other predator sightings include lion, leopard, cheetah, wildcats, and the rare African wild dog.
Vumbura Plains Camp is ideal for solo explorers, couples and families looking for authentic tented accommodation and a rewarding safari experience.

Trip to Kruger at Mdluli Safari Lodge
I loved working with Anja from safari.com. She put together my itinerary within my price range and was very professional, thorough and empathetic. She followed up with me many times to see if I needed anything throughout my trip and even filled out some forms for me when I was having difficulty. When the lodge I stayed at was not being accommodating in the slightest, she quickly contacted the manager and got them to rearrange their services to meet my needs. I would most certainly use safari.com again due to my wonderful experience working with Anja.

Nicole at Safari.com is AMAZING!!!
I would love to share my experience with Nicole. She has worked tirelessly to help me make my dream vacation a reality. I had no idea how to start planning. Nicole suggested the most wonderful South African resorts and safaris. No matter how many changes I threw her way it was always received with a happy, positive attitude. I live in Hawaii and even though we were on a 12 hour time difference she was always available to answer any questions or concerns. Her expertise, knowledge and patience are unmeasurable. I was plagued with numerous payment issues from my bank in Hawaii. Nicole never wavered from being patience and more importantly positive that we could resolve each issue and get my trip booked. Very good experience with getting quotes
I didn’t end up booking with safari.com but I did have a great experience with their consultant, Leigh-Ann Croeser. I originally wanted to book a safari at a specific lodge but it was not available for the dates we wanted. She offered suggestions and helped us secure holds on other dates. She worked hard and sent several follow up emails as she was able to hold some dates for available rooms at the original lodge! We did end up booking with another safari tour company as I sent out a few quotes at the same time and that worked out better for us but next time I would definitely consider booking with her again!
