Ulusaba Private Game Reserve is the private safari home of the world-famous Sir Richard Branson and his collection of magnificent lodges. Ulusaba Rock Lodge overlooks the game-rich bush of the prestigious Sabi Sand Private Game Reserve; known for its phenomenal game viewing opportunities which include the sought after Big 5 and the big cats.
Children of all ages are accommodated at Ulusaba Rock Lodge. Children aged 0–11 years can stay at Ulusaba for free if traveling between January 2 and December 21, 2018. This special offer is only applicable to children sharing a room with their parents.
Children must be accompanied by their parents at all times. Children under the age of 6 years are not permitted on game drives, and children younger than 12 years are not permitted on bush walks.
A children's program is available, as well as child-minding services.
The lodge is equipped with state-of-the-art facilities, ensuring guests arrive to an experience of the highest quality. After an exciting game drive in the reserve, enjoy being pampered at one of the fabulous health spas or play a round of tennis on the court.
Perched high with breathtaking views, Rock Lodge boasts eight unique rooms inspired by the colors and culture of various African tribes. The lodge prides itself on personalized service and top-notch amenities.
The eight rooms at Rock Lodge include the Master Suite, Makwela Suites, Rock Cliff Rooms, and the two-bedroom Rock Suite. Some of these rooms also feature private plunge pools.
There are four adjoining Rock Cliff Rooms, all facing south with stunning views over the vast landscape from their private balconies. The rooms are spacious, with en-suite bathrooms offering spectacular views. Two of the rooms feature split levels connected by a spiral staircase between the bedroom and bathroom.
The Rock Suite is a spacious two-bedroom suite with a living area. The master bedroom can be arranged as a twin and features a full en-suite bathroom with scenic views of the bush, while the second queen-bed room has a smaller en-suite shower room. This suite is ideal for families and can accommodate two children.
The Master Suite is spread over three levels, offering stunning views, an en-suite bathroom, and a private balcony with an infinity plunge pool. The living area includes a terrace with sun loungers overlooking the bush—perfect for wildlife viewing with binoculars. This room is one of Richard Branson’s favorites and is ideal for honeymooners.
Two opulent Makwela Suites are built on two levels, each featuring en-suite bathrooms, private balconies with infinity-edge plunge pools, a separate living area, and a study/library. These suites include luxurious couches, making them a great option for families traveling with children.
The lodge includes a comfortable lounge area, a wine lounge for private dinners, a spa, an outdoor rock pool, a viewing deck complete with telescopes, and a gym equipped with a treadmill, bike, multifunctional weight station, and free weights.
Guests at Rock Lodge enjoy twice-daily safari game drives led by experienced guides eager to share their deep knowledge of the bush. For the adventurous, there’s the option of guided bush walks that offer close-up encounters with the local fauna and flora.
Additional optional activities include exploring the scenic Panorama Route, taking helicopter flights over the reserve, and experiencing an authentic Shangaan cultural encounter with a visit to local villages surrounding the Sabi Sand Game Reserve.
The Sabi Sand Private Game Reserve is a renowned 65,000-hectare reserve located on the western border of Kruger National Park. It is famous for offering some of the best wildlife viewing in Africa. The reserve shares a 50 km-long unfenced border with Kruger National Park, allowing wildlife to roam freely between the two areas.
The Sabi Sand Reserve is home to several private lodges, offering guests an exclusive and luxurious experience in the heart of the African bush. Unlike Kruger National Park, the Sabi Sand Reserve is not open to the general public. Staying at one of the lodges here ensures an intimate experience shared with only a few other privileged guests.
The reserve has a remarkable density of wildlife, including over 330 plant species, 45 fish species, 30 amphibian species, 110 reptile species, 500 bird species, and 145 mammal species. Sabi Sand is home to the "Big 5" and is widely regarded as one of the best locations in the world for spotting the elusive leopard.
Ulusaba Rock Lodge is the perfect destination for solo travelers, couples, and families who desire a luxurious Big 5 safari adventure.

Leigh-Ann Croeser from Safari.com was fantastic
Leigh-Ann from Safari.com was great to work with to plan our group safari trip. She was able to get me on the priority waitlist for a lodge that I liked, which ended up working out for our group during my preferred dates. Leigh-Ann was responsive and provided various tour recommendations for us to decide on the best option for us. There were a few email and name typos from Leigh-Ann that I had to correct, but other than that, I had a great experience.

Dolan was terrific
Dolan was terrific. He got back to us immediately to answer all of our questions. And was so nice to hold a room for a couple of days because of my moms passing. It gave us time to finalize her arrangements and time to book our trip. I would highly recommend using him to book your trip!!
