Richtersveld Transfrontier National Park is equal parts authentic bush getaway, and historic charm, with Sendelingsdrif Rest Camp at the meeting point between nature and man-made history. Self-catering, and constructed in a style reminiscent of the area's mining history with stunning views and easy access to a wealth of stunning sights. This camp is the meeting point of Ais-Ais Hot Springs and the Richtersveld. 4x4 or high clearance vehicles only

Two-bed Chalet (CH2) has 2 single beds with a bathroom (toilet and shower), air conditioning and ceiling fan. Fully equipped kitchenette. The chalet overlooks the Gariep (Orange) river. Some of the chalets have a TV. Helskloof closed. Access through Sendelingsdrif.
Four-bed Chalet (CH4) with 2 bedrooms, each with 2 single beds. A bathroom (toilet and shower), air conditioning and ceiling fan. Fully equipped kitchenette. The chalet overlooks the Gariep (Orange) river. Some of the chalets have a TV. Helskloof closed. Access through Sendelingsdrif.

Activities & Facilities

Guests can enjoy self-drive routes, a particular treat during the park's amazing flowering season, walking trails in the park conducted over different time periods, and stunning bird watching with en estimate of 200 species.

Guests have access to a filling station and small general store, both of which are open on weekdays only. There is currently no ATM facility, shop or restaurant available in the Park. Guests are advised to bring their own supplies that will last for the whole duration of their stay

Sendelingsdrif's restored pontoon provides a convenient crossing point the Garib (Orange) River into Namibia.

Regulations are as follows:A valid PassportThe pontoon carries a maximum capacity of 6 Metric Tones or:• 2 standard 4x4 vehicles without trailers• 1 standard 4x4 vehicle with trailer• 2 standard light motor vehicles with trailers• 1 bus with a seating capacity of less than 20

the park was very beautiful with all the flowers in desert ! Amazing how much can flourish in august. It was a pity that the shop was closed and also that no guided tours were available. If there had been a a contact list of people willing to drive together planning of a longer trip would have been easier However the staff was very helpful and we managed to find our way.

I really enjoyed the park, the only criticism is that aspects of the entrance (by Sendelings) is not clean and tidy i.e. litter and rubble lying around. I understand that the park entrance is shared with a border post and mines but i believe all needs to remain tidy.

We had a comfortable stay at Sendelingsdrif, with all the basic essentials necessary in our chalet and a nice hot shower! What did concern us however was a lack of sign in when immediately entering and exiting the Richetersveld. Given its remoteness, we think it would be a simple enough exercise to have a book available for visitors to enter car type and expected exit from park at which entrance and then sign out. Certainly would have given us some peace of mind as solo travellers. Beautiful scenery made for an exciting and amazing experience.

The campsite at De Hoop is was very nice. The ablution facilities was clean and in good working order. It makes a big difference to have proper toilets and a shower (even though cold)

We had a great experience and will go back to Richtersveld. The staff were very helpful and friendly, the chalets and surroundings were comfortable and clean and we were dazzled by the beauty of the place. We did find it a bit hard to read the map in relation to the signs but after some puzzling we figured it out and managed to be on the roads we needed to be on. They signposting could be a little clearer I think! Our only complaint was one lady at the shop who was the rudest and least helpful person I've come across in a long time! She went out of her way, it seemed to us, to be as obnoxious as possible... She clearly had some kind of problem but she needs to grow up and keep it to herself!RegardsKen Hagens

Disappointed to say the least. Arrived at pond on Saturday 18 at about 12 noon. Nobody operating the pontoon. I also have not been told that there is only certain operating hours for the pontoon coming in from Rosh Pinah side. Had to find other accomodation and left Namibia the following day via Vioolsdrift.

Pascal is a travel angel! Highly recommend him.

We started planning for our safari trip contacting a bunch of different travel advisors but Pascal's service truly stood out to us as the best in the industry. He took care of planning everything from start to finish for our very last minute honeymoon trip (literally a month out and during the busiest safari season). He is extremely meticulous and very responsive to our 100 questions.
