Muchenje Safari Lodge is perched atop an escarpment on the tranquil western side of Botswana’s Chobe National Park. Offering spectacular views of the Chobe River and the seasonal floodplains, its location ensures a peaceful retreat away from the busy Kasane area while being only a two-hour drive from the stunning Victoria Falls.
Children 8 years and older are welcome. Children under 8 on request in Low Season.
Families with children between 8 – 12 years old will need to book a private vehicle for their safari.
Minimum age for walking and mokoro is 12 yrs and is at the discretion of the management and guide.
One family at any one time only – only 2 triples in standard rooms permitted at any time.
Muchenje’s main lodge features a spacious lounge, bar, and dining area with views of the Chobe River and our waterhole.
While the dining area centers around a communal dining experience, guests have the option to dine privately. For a more intimate setting, there's a pergola by the pool.
They offer a Bush Braai (barbecue) in a boma situated in the bush, close to the lodge.
Our chefs prepare delicious and diverse meals, accommodating vegetarian, vegan, and gluten-free diets.
Extensive deck areas provide guests with a relaxing space to enjoy the scenery.
They are ideal for watching the African sunset with a cold drink or stargazing around our fire pit.
The swimming pool, open year-round, overlooks the floodplain.
Accommodation
Muchenje features 10 private thatched cottages and a larger family cottage, each elegantly designed with a unique view of the Chobe floodplain.
The family cottage provides ample comfort, featuring an additional mezzanine open-plan sleeping area that can accommodate 2 children. With 2 spacious bathrooms and a large deck, it is ideal for families or groups of young friends traveling together.
Unwind on your deck and bask in the sun while observing animals grazing on the plains below.
Unlimited safari activities, full day Chobe excursion including river cruise, night drives, guided safari walks, mokoro trips (water levels permitting) village trip; and all meals, all drinks, park fees, transfers to & from Kasane airport, laundry and government tax.

Trip to Kruger at Mdluli Safari Lodge
I loved working with Anja from safari.com. She put together my itinerary within my price range and was very professional, thorough and empathetic. She followed up with me many times to see if I needed anything throughout my trip and even filled out some forms for me when I was having difficulty. When the lodge I stayed at was not being accommodating in the slightest, she quickly contacted the manager and got them to rearrange their services to meet my needs. I would most certainly use safari.com again due to my wonderful experience working with Anja.

Nicole at Safari.com is AMAZING!!!
I would love to share my experience with Nicole. She has worked tirelessly to help me make my dream vacation a reality. I had no idea how to start planning. Nicole suggested the most wonderful South African resorts and safaris. No matter how many changes I threw her way it was always received with a happy, positive attitude. I live in Hawaii and even though we were on a 12 hour time difference she was always available to answer any questions or concerns. Her expertise, knowledge and patience are unmeasurable. I was plagued with numerous payment issues from my bank in Hawaii. Nicole never wavered from being patience and more importantly positive that we could resolve each issue and get my trip booked. Nicole is a huge asset to Safari.com and I will scream it from the mountains to let everyone know what excellent customer service I have received. Nicole is a ROCKSTAR!!! Very good experience with getting quotes
I didn’t end up booking with safari.com but I did have a great experience with their consultant, Leigh-Ann Croeser. I originally wanted to book a safari at a specific lodge but it was not available for the dates we wanted. She offered suggestions and helped us secure holds on other dates. She worked hard and sent several follow up emails as she was able to hold some dates for available rooms at the original lodge! We did end up booking with another safari tour company as I sent out a few quotes at the same time and that worked out better for us but next time I would definitely consider booking with her again!
