Chobe National Park is renowned for hosting the largest concentration of elephants in Africa. During the dry season, these herds, along with large herds of buffalo, gather along the fertile floodplains of the Chobe River. Spectacular sightings of puku, sable, giraffe, and roan antelope, along with the rare aquatic Red Lechwe and the indigenous Chobe Bushbuck, are frequent. The abundance of wildlife supports a thriving population of predators, including resident populations of lions, leopards, wild dogs, and cheetahs. The park hosts the Big Five, along with massive pods of hippos and crocodiles. Chobe is also a haven for bird enthusiasts, showcasing over 450 species, including Pel’s Fishing Owl and the uniquely beaked African skimmer.
